District Geography

The Green Valley Patrol District is considered the southernmost of the six patrol districts within the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.  It is a diverse District, made up of several unique communities.  The District boundaries are located south and east of the Town of Sahuarita, and follow the I-19 corridor south to the Santa Cruz County line.  The largest population can be found in the unincorporated community of Green Valley.  With a population of about 26,000 residents, Green Valley is predominantly known as a retirement community, with a median resident age of 72.  Each year, the number of year-round residents increases, though the population remains somewhat transient as it fluctuates with the changing seasons.

Two separate communities within the Green Valley District are those of Amado, in the Elephant Head area, and the community of Arivaca, which is located southwest of Green Valley proper.  Arivaca, with its proximity to the International border with Mexico, has its own distinct character far removed from the urban lifestyle of Tucson, and its own unique law enforcement needs.

Besides being a well-known retirement community, Green Valley is also known for its magnificent golf courses and indomitable volunteer spirit.  There are many organizations in which residents participate that keep them involved in maintaining the character of the community of which they are so proud. The Pima County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers of Green Valley is just such an organization!  A nationally recognized volunteer assist team, the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers work hand-in-hand with the deputies to provide law enforcement support in making Green Valley a safe place to live and work.

District Supervisors

Three squads of deputies are deployed in Green Valley; each squad is supervised by a sergeant. Each sergeant is responsible for the actions of deputies under his/her command and the daily operations of the District. Should you have any questions or concerns, you may contact the on-duty sergeant by calling the District office at (520) 351-6711 during normal business hours. If you wish to speak with the on-duty sergeant, you may also call (520) 351-4900 and request that the on-duty sergeant be contacted.

SAV Briefing Sheet

The Green Valley Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers assist the Department's law enforcement and public safety mission by conducting daily patrols within the community, conducting daily home checks, and providing fingerprinting services to the community. The Green Valley SAV also maintain and operate a Department Command Post vehicle to assist law enforcement on tactical call-outs and major crime scene support. These are just a few of the many services that the Green Valley SAV provide to the Sheriff's Department and the surrounding communities.
