As the Sheriff’s Department continues to be a leader in training, this month has certainly been an example of all of the hard work and effort by the trainers in our agency. Our many department instructors are busy with two academy classes. The deputy sheriff academy is moving along nicely and the corrections academy recruits have just begun their intense instruction.
This year’s advanced officer training is focusing on driving proficiency. Thanks to our driving instructors, our commissioned personnel are skilled in the ability to safely navigate our county roadways.
As you will see in this issue, the Pima Regional Motor Academy which included students from the Sheriff’s Department is well underway and will complete their training by the end of the month.
I am grateful for all of our staff who took the initiative to become instructors in order to use their skills to effectively educate others and continue our excellent reputation as a leader in progressive law enforcement training.
As the holiday season approaches, continue your efforts to stop impaired drivers. Please take note of the new DUI Unit hours and utilize the DUI Unit assigned deputies when you need them. Your extra effort helps to keep all of us safe!
